Are, you sitting at home watching football and could care less about people diagnosed with cancer around the world? In our country 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. 1 in 1,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer. We all sit here thinking that we won’t get something like that but we just might. Women fighting breast cancer are an inspiration to all of us. Today I ran with my whole family the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. I got the amazing opportunity of running with survivors of breast cancer including my amazing aunt.
What would you do if you were told you had breast cancer? I would be in shock. I think anyone would. If I heard this information I would be scared. Who wouldn’t? All these women go through the process of getting this information. After their journey with breast cancer starts something amazing happens. They totally take this information out of their brains and start to fight the common enemy. These women have enormous strength. They have hope that they will be cured. Recently on a website a woman asked the question what the survival rate of a certain type of breast cancer was. The answer was amazing. The answer was: “I hope to make my own survival rate”. That woman has a huge amount of belief, and hope, and courage.
Today or whole family walked. We were all there to support women all around our nation including my aunt. I loved seeing so many people coming to support these amazing survivors. I believe that family is the strongest bond and can cure anything. I was so scared for my aunt but she didn’t want any of us to be scared for her. She is such an inspiration. I look up to her. When I complain about doing homework I look at her and these amazing women and realize that I haven’t been through nothing. ☺
I am so happy that so many people around the country come together and fight breast cancer but sometimes I wonder why it’s just breast cancer that we see races and support for. There are so many different types of cancer that so many people are proudly and bravely fighting. My G-Mama passed away from cancer as well. So, with everyone who is reading this help we can support everyone fighting for their lives.
