Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. My favorite holiday. Of course I am thankful for my family friends, shelter, and food, everything god gives us. Then I started thinking. I am thankful for Thanksgiving. This is the day we realize everything god gives us. It’s the day we think about others and not ourselves. So although I enjoy the food and Black Friday, the part I love the best about Thanksgiving is thinking about people other than ourselves.
This time of the year we thank god for everything he gives us. Our family has a tradition. At the Thanksgiving table, we go around and say what we are thankful for. I say that I am thankful for god , for food, for family, and for shelter. That time when we go around the table is the best part of Thanksgiving for me. This year I have really thought about what I am going to say. This year I am going to say I am thankful for Thanksgiving. We are all so blessed. We all have people who love and care about us. On this day we finally realize it. We realize how blessed we are. This is the time we are genuinely thankful for everything we have been given by Whaeguru.
Of course, it’s nice that we all are thankful around this time of year, but my one question is why can’t we have it all year? We take one day to realize and then go right back to taking all we have for granted. For so many years I have done that as well. So this year I promised myself, that I will wake up every morning and I will say what I am thankful for. God does so much for us and we should thank him every day, not just on the last Thursday of November. I know my parents do so much for me but for some reason I never find the time to say “Thank You”. The two most powerful words anyone can say
So, in conclusion to this Thanksgiving blog, I am thankful for being thankful. I am thankful for this because we realize that we are so fortunate and we should be helping the people who in this world are not as fortunate as us. Everyone in this world deserves a home, and food daily. People in countries like China and India don’t always have these essentials. So I thank God for giving us this day, to show us that we are blessed and should be helping more people than ourselves.
“A person, who is truly thankful, takes his good fortune as a sign, a sign that he should be giving and not receiving.”
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!
