When we hear the words “What are you thankful for?” what comes into our minds. Is it the gismos and gadgets we have? Is it the privileges we have? Is it the loving family we all have? Is it the roof we have above us? I truly think it’s all these things. The big the small, black or white, phones or computers. Every single thing we have in this beautiful life makes us who we are today. Think of something, anything. Think about how your life would change without it. The smallest thing we may think is a waste, in some small or large way does affect our life.
We all have food on our table and a roof above our head. We are warm in the cold winters, and we are cool in the humid summers. Think of your life without these blessings. On winter break, we see snow outside while we are watching holiday movies and drinking hot chocolate. What would it be like to have no electricity? Just think of your house being as cold as the winter or as hot as the summer. We also have food on our plates, three meals a day. We get food every single day yet we make the remark “I’m starving!” How would it feel to actually be starving and can’t remember the last meal you had. When we make this remark we remember the last time we ate. This is a very big subject to be thankful for.
In this day in age, anything is possible. To all the adults, did you really think it was possible to have a program named Siri that tells you things you needed to know by just talking? Did you think that smart phones would ever be possible? It does seem impossible but it happened. Now some people cannot live without their phone or computer (Including me☺). This is the type of thing we all take for granted. We think that the amazing inventions we have in this world just came. With these gadgets our generation came up with a new way to communicate, most of the time for something that change people’s lives. When I say this I mean that a child and a parent live on two different sides of the country, they still have communication. These little things like just talking to a relative that lives far away from you, are things we don’t realize as a blessing.
The last thing that I am going to talk about is something that I feel keeps us all tied together, and was all we needed since centuries ago. FAMILY! Families are the people who love us dearly. They know what’s best for us. They would do anything on this planet for us. Everyone has had a moment where a parent has said something that we really do not agree with, and get all mad and lock ourselves in a room. Well this is only because we don’t understand the reason our parents say what they say. If we make a mistake like not doing chemistry or math thoroughly enough, family is always going to be the people there to help you. This is something that truly is blessing from god and something it would be impossible to live without.
There are so many things in this world to be thankful about. We should just take a second and just think about all of these things. If we don’t appreciate what we have, then our whole lives could turn into chaos. Every single thing we have in our lives is for a reason and we should be thankful. Even for those things we hate make it positive and say thank you to god because truly, there is a reason.
“Sometimes the little things in life mean the most.”
