Today our school had a winter concert. This concert included strings, Beginning Band,
Intermediate Band, Jazz Band and Glee Club (Chorus). The one of these I am in is chorus. It is so much
fun both to perform and to listen to the music played my friends and classmates.
I think it is so cool that everyone can come together on one day and share musical talents with
each other. I have heard people sing and play their instruments, and it is truly beautiful. I love hearing all
the music playing so harmoniously. One of my favorite things to hear is the Jazz Band. The directors of
all these groups are also so talented. One person in the Jazz Band had a solo today. This band is for 6 th
grade and the soloist this year is in 4 th grade. No one else had a solo in all three bands. This is an
awesome example that if you work really hard and believe in yourself, it will pays off.
Another cool thing about this year’s concert was the newly added strings program. This is the
first year they have started this and it truly was beautiful. I think it was so cool that the band director
could start this program and execute it so well. The part that I thought was most fun was probably the
time between two concerts. We have two concerts in one day. One is at 12:00 for the younger kids and
one is at 1:30 for the older kids. During the time between the two concerts, we get to go to our chorus
room and eat lunch while watching a movie. Our classmates have to stay in class. We got to miss out on
school today. Ha Ha Ha!
On this concert I had the opportunity to perform a solo. This is my second year in this club. On
my first year I auditioned for all the possible solos but did not get selected. So this year was my first
solo. I was so happy when I found out that I was on top of the world. Actually I think I was on top of the
universe . It also made me realize that I should never give up on anything I want. I need to be
persistent and believe in myself. Hard work, the support of my teachers and parents along with God’d
blessings can help me achieve anything I want.
It is so cool that everyone can get together and just listen to the music of the holidays. We all
get to share our talents which is also pretty cool. I have attached a little portion of concert so enjoy.
